Voicing

Voicers at Casavant Frères are not only trained musicians but their apprenticeship is also the longest and most exacting of all the artisans in the workshop. Beginning by giving each pipe its first voice, they follow them through the tonal regulation process when the instrument comes together in the assembly room, finally traveling to complete the tonal finishing of the organ on site. This three-phase process, extending over a period of months, provides the voicer with intimate knowledge and understanding of each instrument and culminates in a truly musical instrument.
