The Congregational United Church of Christ
Opus 3867, 2007
Iowa City, Iowa — June 1, 2008
When we decided to comission a new organ
for the church, it was our wish that it add an important new dimension to the
outreach programs as well as performing it its primary function of accompanying
congregational singing and the church's renwowned choir. We also desired
that this organ be a unique addition to the musical scene in Iowa City.
The new Casavant of two manuals and 29 ranks has met these objectives as well as we could ever have imagined. It is extremely warm yet very articulate, and it adapts to all schools of organ literature. Since the dedication of the organ earlier this year, it has performed beautifully in a special worship service for the annual U of I Sacred Music Conference as well as for a number of noon-time recitals given by students of the U of I Organ Department.
The workmanship of Opus 3867 is everything you would expect to find in a Casavant. The console blends beautifully with the existing gothic fabric of the church and is a joy to play.
Finally, we have to say just what a pleasure it was to work with everyone from Casavant. This has been an incredible experience for us and for all of the members at the Congregational Church.
