Joseph Casavant (1807-1874)
The first member of the Casavant family to build pipe organs in Saint-Hyacinthe and the father of Claver and Samuel Casavant who established Casavant Frères in 1879.

   

The residence of Joseph Casavant built in 1861 at 900 rue Girouard est in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec—since the early twentieth-century, the offices of Casavant Frères.

   

Joseph-Claver Casavant at the age of 21
Claver Casavant was born on September 10, 1855. He studied at the Séminaire de Saint-Hyacinthe from 1864 to 1870. In 1880 he married Evelina Papineau. They had three daughters; Alice, who did not marry and Française and Emilienne, both of whom entered the community of the Soeurs de la Présentation de Marie. Claver died on December 10, 1933.

   

Samuel-Marie Casavant around the age of 21
Samuel Casavant was born on April 4, 1859. He married Marie Ledoux in 1882. They had three children, Aristide, Juliette—who married Frederic N. Oliver, and Rachel—who married Paul Laframboise. Samuel died on November 23, 1929.

Arisitide Casavant (1889-1938)
Son of Samuel Casavant named for Aristide Cavaillé-Coll and the only male born into his generation of the Casavant family. In 1929 he became Vice President of the company and served as President from 1933 until his death in 1938.

   

Juliette Casavant Oliver (1888-1989)
Daughter of Samuel and Marie Ledoux Casavant. Mrs. Oliver was the last living direct descendent of the Casavant brothers when she died at the age of 101 in 1989.
